Facilitate.com launches “Future of Distributed Meetings” survey for Collaboration2003 Conference
Data will reveal whether distributed meetings are delivering on productivity and cost benefits
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – (MARKET WIRE) – 9/16/2003 – Facilitate.com, provider of collaborative meeting software for problem solving and decision making, is co-sponsoring the survey with Collaborative Strategies LLC for the Collaboration2003 conference taking place October 20-21 in Annapolis Maryland.
Distributed meetings are an emerging online collaboration application that holds forth the promise of a compelling return on investment (ROI) by reducing costs and increasing productivity. This survey looks at usage and technology adoption trends and asks the question “is distributed meeting technology delivering on its promise?”
“Distributed meetings are an attractive alternative for organizations who can no longer afford the time and expense involved in getting everyone to the same place for a critical decision making meeting,” commented Julia Young, Vice President at Facilitate.com. “The question is whether the technologies, processes and organizational behavior are mature enough to sustain a change in the way we collaborate.”
“Real-time collaboration technologies like web conferencing have experienced impressive growth in the past three years, fueled mainly by applications like web seminars and web training,” said David Coleman, Managing Partner at Collaborative Strategies, a collaborative technologies and knowledge management consultancy. “We see future growth coming from smaller structured meetings involving 5 to 20 individuals. This survey will help us understand what the future meeting is going to look like.”
Distributed meetings allow a group to engage together in real-time but from different locations, using voice, video and data technology as a means of accessing a common agenda and content and interacting with other meeting participants.
Survey results will be reported at the Collaboration 2003 Conference. For more information about the conference please visit www.Collaboration2003.com.
