USJFCOM to Use Facilitate.com Brainstorming Software
at Pinnacle Impact 03 Discovery Experiment
Collaborative software will support anonymous
brainstorming to test future joint military concepts
SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- 05/6/2003 -- Facilitate.com, provider of
collaborative meeting software for problem solving and decision making,
today announced that the United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) has
adopted Facilitate.com 7.5 to support its joint concept experimentation labs,
including the large Pinnacle Impact 2003 experiment to be held May 12-21 in Suffolk VA.
Concept teams will use the software
to engage in parallel brainstorming of ideas around
critical hypotheses and joint military operations concepts.
Brainstorming will be anonymous to encourage an open
exchange and debate with input from specialists from
all branches of the military as well as international
experts. The teams will use Facilitate.com's
prioritizing and voting tools to evaluate the ideas
immediately against defined criteria. Facilitate.com
7.5 will provide the single repository for all the
event content and enable on-demand reporting and analysis.
As part of USJFCOM's joint experimentation campaign,
Pinnacle Impact 03 is one of several command-hosted
discovery experiments that examine key aspects of the
evolving future joint military operations concept with
the objective of eliminating interoperability problems.
Using a seminar war game format and a detailed future
scenario, PI03 will include some 110 players and 50
support personnel.
“Facilitate.com’s biggest contribution
will be to give a voice to participants who would be
observing only in a traditional setting,” said Julia
Young, Vice President at Facilitate.com. “Collaborative
brainstorming will enable all 160 participants to share
ideas simultaneously, challenge each others’ thinking
and ultimately build better solutions.”
About
USJFCOM and Pinnacle Impact 03
As the transformation laboratory
for the Department of Defense, USJFCOM turns to the
Joint Experimentation Directorate (J9) to develop,
explore, test, and validate 21st-century war fighting
concepts that will be integrated into future joint forces
training. J9 uses discovery experiments to produce and
use new ideas that identify potential military benefits and to lay the
foundation for more rigorous testing, assessment and refinement. For
